Helpful Summer Moving Tips

It’s the summer. Most moves across the United States are made in the summer. Do you need to do anything differently? Yes you do and proper packing is your best insurance against property damage. If it quite important that you pack properly and you do not wait until the last minute to pack.

Be sure that you reinforce the bottoms of all boxes you pack, and try not to over pack boxes. Because of the heat and moisture of the summer, the tape on the boxes may not hold as well as it would in the cooler months, so be sure to double up on the tape. As always, be sure to organize the boxes by rooms and size. Don’t put the fragile kitchen box in little Jimmy’s section under all of his heavy books. Be cautious with your packing and be sure to label the boxes correctly.

Moving electronics in the summer heat can be a challenge. Most electronics can become damaged in intense heat. Be sure to wrap your electronics with bubble wrap and/or cloth. Once you have packed the electronics in the reinforced box, be sure to label it correctly and put it to the side so it can go towards the front of the truck in a safe place.

When you are moving freezers and refrigerators, be sure to defrost them. If not, you will find a lot of water damaged property. Once the fridge and freezer are defrosted, you can use the inside to store crushable items for your moving adventure. Same applies to washing machines, dryers, and ovens.
