Basketball Lovers: Don’t Pass Up Your Dream Location
Posted on September 1st, 2010 by Alejo Tenutta
Let’s say you’re considering moving but are having trouble deciding between locations. After all, there are so many elements to take into consideration, such as work opportunity, local hotspots, and everything else that affects your daily life. But everyone is different and has their particular demands, and perhaps yours is basketball. Meaning you live and breathe the sport; you watch it religiously and play it even more than that. So how do you find the neighborhood that’s ideal for your favorite hobby?
Here’s a checklist you can follow in order to determine if your new residence has enough basketball for your liking.
One of the first steps is to research the average age of your neighbors. After all, the younger the residents, the more likely they are to participate in daily exercise, especially pick up games of basketball. Try to find a locale whose residents’ ages are in the 18-30 range, because these are the people that will be most likely to partake in regular exercise.
Make the effort to look for parks and basketball courts. Cities usually build several parks and basketball courts when they’re used a lot. Therefore, the more you see that painted asphalt, orange rims, and white backboard spread throughout the town, the more likely that people in the area will be there to play.
Choose an area where there’s a professional NBA team. This means that there’s usually a lot of pride in basketball in the city. It also means that people tend to be more motivated to go out and play themselves, in an attempt to emulate their favorite athletes. Remember that professional teams can be replaced by college teams, considering that college games are usually much more emotionally charged, and fans are even more passionate.
When relocating, you will also want to choose an area with a professional or college team nearby because of your own passion for basketball. There’s no better feeling than to have a hometown team that you can go and cheer for. As a matter of fact, being located within reasonable driving distance of the arena means that you can enjoy the festivities associated with basketball fandom; we’re talking full-blown celebration, from the team jersey to foam fingers.
These are a few easy steps to follow when making your move to another city. In fact, just because you’re relocating doesn’t mean that you have to give up practicing your jump shot, crossover, or 360 windmill dunk.
