Save Some Energy, Mother Nature and Your Bank Account Will Appreciate It

Nowadays we need to make cuts and start saving money wherever we can. Even if you have a steady and good paying job, there is no need in wasting so much energy and therefore so much money. In fact, we could even be helping Earth as well by limiting our consumption and learning how to efficiently use our electric equipment in our homes.
Whether you are moving to a new apartment or house or if you are looking for ways to make your home more energy efficient, keep ready, there are just a few steps into saving time, energy and money.
In case you are wondering how this would be possible, here are a few secrets as to how you can lower your energy consumption and keep some extra dough where you like it; in your pockets.
- “Auto” Pilot for Hot Weather – Keep the Thermostat between 78 and 82 degrees in auto mode. When you leave the house, either turn it off or put it a little bit higher. If there is no one in the house, there is no need to keep it way cool.
- Programmable Thermostat- Installing a thermostat that is programmable will allow you to maintain the desire temperatures under control.
- Clean or Replace your Cooling System Filter- Keeping your air filter will save you energy and money. Plus it will also benefit your health. If it is not in good conditions anymore, consider replacing it.
- Ceiling Fans Off- Having a constantly running ceiling fan can add up to your electric bill, believe it or not! So whenever you are not in the rooms keep them off.
- Dishwasher- Pre-washing your dishes not only take more of your time, but it also accumulates and raises your electric bill. Either wash them by hand or use the dishwasher; a combination of both is not a good idea.
- Washer Machines-Avoid using hot water when possible. If necessary, opt for a cold rinse. Level your water according to your clothe load.
- Dryers- By simply cleaning the lint filter, you will see the changes in both the performance of your dryer and you electric bill. Make sure you clean it before and after every load.
- Auto Sensor for the Dryer- Over heating your clothe or leaving them damp is going to be left in the past. With a sensor, your dryer will stop when your clothing is ready.
- Pool Cleaning- There is no need for your pool pump to run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Limit the time you leave it on and let the big savings roll. During the summer, let it run for no more than six hours while during the winter, you can cut it down to 4 hours.
- “Auto” Pilot for Cold Weather – By keeping your thermostat approximately at 68 degrees you will not be forcing your air conditioner to warm the house more than necessary. When you are not in the house, consider leaving it at 65 degrees.
These are things that you can put into practice wherever you go. Regardless if you relocate to a cold weather environment, or to sunny Florida, you will always be able to make a few changes in your daily routine and start saving energy and money.
