How to Maintain the Swimming Pool of Your New House
Posted on July 19th, 2010 by Ricardo Louis
Getting a new place and relocating into your new house can mean taking over new tasks you didn’t have to worry about at your old place. From fireplaces to driveways to lawns, sometimes you inherit parts of the house you have no idea how to clean/maintain. One of the main features is a swimming pool. Most folks (especially those who have lived in a condominium or apartment building and didn’t have to worry about cleaning the community pool) won’t know the first thing about cleaning the pool of their new house.
Of course, you can always hire a pool maintenance person, but they cost money and may not get the job done as thoroughly as you’d like. Here’s a brief guide to getting your pool cleaned out, especially if you’re moving in the summer and want to get it nice and sparkly for your family to play in.
You’re going to need some of the basic items like old rags or t-shirts you don’t need, along with some pool sanitizer. You can find this at any local WalMart or K-Mart; even some grocery stores carry it.
Now, it’s important to know beforehand that most swimming pools contain several hard to reach areas where germs love to accumulate that those automatic cleaning systems can’t reach. Even an automatic cleaning system can’t reach everywhere. Getting on your hands and knees and utilizing the old fashioned technique of using rubber gloves and vigorously scrubbing the walls and floor will have your swimming pool clean and clear in no time. Also, be sure to get to the corners or the pool, along with the steps if you have any. Now that you’ve got the actual pool clean, you’ll now need to make sure that the water in the pool is clean as well. Maintaining the proper pH levels is important, and you can accomplish this by adding the necessary chemicals.
The process isn’t desirable, but necessary. Realize that keeping your pool clean regularly will keep you and your family germ free.

Thanks for the handy info mate, this will come in handy for me in a couple of years when I hope to be moving to Spain (where most houses seem to have there own swimming pool).
I have added a bookmark so I can come back to this page at a later date when I move
Thanks for the info and tips.
