StatehospitalWyomingIf you’re looking to turn your Evanston, WY home into a stylish pad, MovingCost.com is here to give you some one-of-a-kind tips. Follow us as we go over 5 decorating trends that are sweeping the nation by storm. Here are 5 things you can do to turn your home from safe and expected to surprisingly edgy in the blink of an eye.

1. Let’s Go Vintage!
If you’ve been thinking about buying the new couch on the market and overspending on the latest wonders of interior design, maybe you should think again. Sure, the modern look can be hot, but there’s nothing better than a home/apartment with a classic feel. Check out some local antique stores and stop by neighborhood garage sales to try to find some pieces that you might be interested in.

2. Now That’s Life-Sized!

Betty Grable 20th Century FoxFor teenagers, nothing sets a room off quite like a couple of posters. Meanwhile, a lot of families opt to put up as many framed photographs as possible. If you really want to make a statement, use a life-sized pinup in one of your rooms. While some people may see this as somewhat tacky or juvenile, there’s no debating the fact that it will make people stop and discuss. That’s exactly what you want to happen!

3.Just Go Crazy Already!
Conventional wisdom says that you’re not supposed to mix plaids and stripes. We are also trained to use colors that mesh well and complement each other. Today, let’s throw that all out the window. Paint your living room in as many different colors as you want and buy the craziest throw pillows that you can find. Your friends will call it bold and ecclectic. . . we hope.

4.Add Some Playtime Please

Or maybe you can add a pool table to the vacant room upstairs. This will impress family, the furniture movers and anyone else who steps foot into your home.

5. Show Some Culture!

Pick a style and run with it.

  1. I completely agree about garage sale finds! Vintage furniture is so much more fun+ it’s great for the environment.

  2. You give good advice, buying vintage furniture could be a great investment. Newly wealthy Chinese families are paying fortunes for the types of older, but still serviceable, furniture that we used to throw on a bonfire. One family’s ‘junk’ can make another family’s comfortable home at a very economical price.
