The Ultimate Teenager’s Guide to Having Fun in Hartford, Connecticut

Today, we decided to mix things up even more and show some well deserved love to our teen readers in the Hartford, CT area. If you are new to Hartford, we are going to help you get acquainted to a more fun side of Hartford County on the whole.

After helping out the house movers that your mom hired, you probably couldn’t wait to get in your car and make the most of all that Hartford has to offer. Unfortunately, this plan never works well when you have no idea where you are going does it? We are here to change that! If you’re a fan of movies such as Wall-E and Robo Cop, you should check out the FIRST Robotics Competition at the Connecticut Convention Center (100 Columbus Blvd). This futuristic event will feature robots made by some of the most talented people in the country. To get a glimpse of the innovation inventions, visit the center anytime from Thursday March 31st – Saturday April 2nd.

Okay, so maybe you’re not too amped up about the robot exhibition. If that’s the case, we’ve got a tip that’s sure to get you moving. On Friday April 1st, South African artist Jean Grae will headline the 6th annual International Hip Hop Festival at Trinity College (300 Summit Street). If you are a fan of big concerts, this is your chance to catch one of the best hip hop shows in the country. Since this kind of event is always filled with surprise performances and cameos, it’s better to get there as early as you can to avoid the hassle.

Even if you can’t make it to the concert over the weekend, there will be plenty more chances to enjoy Hartford and blend with other teenagers in the area. One of the best opportunities to do this is at the Real Art Ways (56 Arbor Street), Real Board event on Tuesday, April 5th. On the first Tuesday of every month, people come together to play board games such as Monopoly, Taboo and anything else that you can think of. So instead of sitting on the couch and watching the television all the time, get your homework done early so you can have some fun at Real Art Ways.

Now that you have an idea of some things you can do for fun, you can stop giving your parents a hard time about moving to Hartford, CT. Of course it will take some time to get use to the transition. But once you do, you will see just how fun living in Hartford can be.
