Generating Waste and Move
Posted on January 27th, 2012 by jrivera
Every year when we move somewhere and leave the old home we don’t care about discarding trash and we do this with more passion than usually, because we know we will leave the state or town and we don’t need to clean anything at all and nobody would complaint about the trash filled baskets lying near our home. The common practice when packing process starts is sorting out boxes, buying new containers, and collecting as many cartons as we can. We need boxes of different sizes and spaces; we keep shifting the items from one box to another until we are satisfied and until items are properly fit in. Doing this we tear away two dozens of boxes easily and throw them away in the dumpsters. And this continues as long as we are engaged in the packing and we do this almost daily when we pack bigger products and appliances such as television and machines. Hovers and workout machines need more space and we keep doing experiments with their packing, because we can’t relieve until it is over.
When the moving day approaches people would find a cluster of boxes outside the home telling them clearly that we are moving and are busy with the packing. Not that our waste is confined to the boxes only but we take dinner and lunch in the rush and throw them outside in the dustbin. If you watch Aunt Bully throwing a plastic bag with unfinished meal inside from the window you should understand that it’s probably the time of move for her and she is in the hurry. Sometimes, we conduct garage sale and put everything in the presentation but when it ends with less profit we trash everything-even the expensive blazer we bought from the Paris and keep feeding the dumpsters more than their appetites. Who cares about poor dumpsters?
It’s a fact that all trash will be recycles and sent to the right place. When you are living the state you shouldn’t forget about the ethics you were taught when you were a kid. Didn’t your mom tell you not to throw items in the garden and throw wrappers in the dumb? Even if you are in the rush you should try to clean your environment at your best level because there are other people too that are living there in the state and need fresh air free of mosquito and germs. Would you ever like to inhale air coming through your dumpster’s rustic food? Try to reduce the waste to the minimum when you are doing packing of the household goods and take care of your surroundings because you wanted them to be clean and hygiene when was living there. You have lived there for a long time and you should respect the place.
